African Portraits

Melanie has joined a theatre school to develop herself as an actress. The training offered by the school draws on Augusto Boal’s, ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’, to help its students develop self-confidence and self-knowledge. It gives Melanie, a Cape Coloured, real contact for the first time with black Africans from the townships and takes her on a journey of self-discovery. (Short extract).
